At least one more month to pick up branches in Montreal parks

Montreal parks will remain cluttered with branches for at least a month. The damage caused by the April 5 ice storm will take weeks to disappear, the city announced on Monday.

The branches stacked in the streets of Montreal have been collected at “99%”, welcomed the spokesperson for the City of Montreal, Philippe Sabourin in a press briefing.

However, it will be necessary to wait for the “second week of June” before the citizens of Montreal can enjoy their parks completely free of these piles of wood, he warned.

Two green spaces will take even longer to be completely cleaned: Parc Maisonneuve and Parc du Mont-Royal.

For the first, City employees plan to complete the work by the end of June. The second will be gradually freed from its dead branches “during the summer”.

Private contracts have been granted to facilitate the work in these two parks.

More details will follow.
