At least five dead in Australia after stabbing attack at Sydney shopping center

Local police cordoned off the area around the Westfield shopping center in the Bondi Junction area. Eight people, including a baby, were hospitalized.

Panic scenes in Sydney. Five people killed in stabbing attack in a shopping center in the Australian economic capital, New South Wales police said on Saturday April 13. A critical incident” took place in the Westfield center in Bondi Junction, police said on Facebook. Eight injuries were reported. The police announce that they have killed a suspect, and have not yet ruled out the “terrorist” trail.

“Shortly before 4 p.m. (Saturday 13 April 2024), emergency services were called to Westfield Bondi Junction following reports of several people being stabbed”traced the local police. “It is strongly recommended to avoid the area”she also warned.

All of the injured, including a young child, were transported to hospital, emergency services said. “The first thoughts of all Australians are with those affected and their loved ones”wrote on the social network Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
