Twenty-seven of the 130 or so revelers on the flight to Cancun had managed to return to Canada on Wednesday on four different flights, Federal Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos said at a press conference on Friday.
They were intercepted upon arrival at two airports to be tested for COVID-19.
The authorities also checked the integrity and quality of their vaccine evidence and their PCR tests. They also inquired about their quarantine plan, with their return to the country.
The federal Minister of Health has indicated that this information will be compared to that which had been entered when they left Montreal for Mexico.
Minister Duclos also stressed that the Sûreté de Québec had contacted the Public Health Agency of Canada to obtain the contact details of these travelers.
The infringement files were sent to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) in Quebec, underlined Minister Duclos.
