Vladimir Putin promised to punish those responsible, the day after the attack which left at least 133 dead in Moscow (Russia), Friday March 22. The attack was claimed by the Islamic State.
On the morning of Saturday March 23, the police released images of the arrest of one of the potential terrorists who carried out the attack near Moscow (Russia) the day before. Photos of their car during the arrest were also made public. According to intelligence, the terrorists tried to hide and flee to Ukraine. Less than 24 hours after the attack, Vladimir Putin assures that the attackers “were arrested and detained”adding that a “access route should allow them to cross the border” to Ukraine.
Ukraine denies complicity in attack
For its part, Ukraine very quickly denied any complicity in the attack on Friday evening. Mykhaïlo Podoliak, advisor to the Ukrainian president, assured that the country has not “absolutely nothing to see” with the events. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, releasing a photo of the four Crocus City Hall attackers after claiming responsibility late Friday. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the investigation continues. Around a hundred police officers are mobilized. Nearly 500 rescuers are still searching for possible survivors.
