12 people died in the English Channel on Tuesday 3 September while trying to reach England on a boat.
On the quay of Portel (Pas-de-Calais), body bags were lined up, Tuesday September 3. These are the bodies of migrants who drowned in the English Channel while trying to reach England. On a stretcher, which rescuers are carefully hoisting up, is another body. The list of victims is growing. At least twelve people are dead, mostly women, and two others are missing. 51 people were saved thanks to children, and thanks, in particular, to the intervention of fishermen.
The resigned Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, on the spot, once again points the finger at the responsibility of the people smugglers. The boat in distress was spotted in the morning in the Boulogne-sur-Mer region.Sea (Pas-de-Calais). This is the eighth shipwreck of the year in this sector increasingly invested by people smugglers on the Channel coast. The passengers embarked despite rough seas.
