At La Ruche, it is above all a family affair. In 1981 by Domenico Mistretta, a former architect wishing to make a living from his passion for beekeeping, created a honey farm. For years, Domenico has been awarded several times with numerous medals in different competitions.
In 2008, his son Vincent took over the beekeeping operation with the same quest for authenticity and quality as his father. But in 2015, the farm suffered significant mortality on its apiaries and the Mistretta family decided to stop producing honey in order to develop a range of processed products. With their long experience as beekeepers, the Mistretta select high quality local honeys. At this time, Bertrand and Sarah (the cadets) join the family adventure.
Today, the three brothers and sisters produce a constantly evolving range of delicious honey products and at the same time run the Castelnou store all year round.
