Thursday, October 6, on the occasion of the national day of caregivers, the news of 12/13 meets the family of an autistic child. Among the people who accompany him on a daily basis, his big brother, who is only 12 years old.

At 12, Arthur is already used to anticipating the needs of his little brother, who suffers from autism. He supports his mother who, separated from her husband, lives alone with her three children. “Me, I have a life where my brother is disabled, so there are a lot more responsibilities”, testifies Arthur, Jules’ big brother. “He’s more than a brother, it’s true that he helps me on a daily basis, he’s my right arm.” describes Aurélia Simonelli, mother of Arthur, Jules and Rose.

At 7, Jules expresses himself differently, with gestures and cries that his family has learned to decipher. Little autonomous, the child requires constant attention. “When for example he is in his bed and he is all alone, I go to see him and I help him“, says Arthur. With these responsibilities, the boy grew rapidly.”Very young, he became aware of the reality“, adds his mother. The big brother is happy with the progress made by Jules, and intends to help him in the future. “I can see that he doesn’t have the carelessness that a child of his age should have.“, laments, however, his mother.
