Tens of thousands of festival-goers braved the heat wave to rediscover the boosted atmosphere of Hellfest, the high mass of metal which opened this Friday in Loire-Atlantique after two sleepless years.

Everyone has their eyes glued to the thermometer, on this Friday afternoon, June 17. At Hellfest, in Clisson (Loire-Atlantique), the temperature oscillates between 37 and 38 degrees, and this, while the 60 hectares of the festival offer very few shaded corners.
The specificity of this festival, which expects 420,000 spectators over seven days: the many concerts start at 10 am. So, at the end of the day, some are already more than 6 hours exposed in full sun. Even if no major discomfort is currently to be deplored: security and civil protection are present in large numbers on the site.

Lots of water, fountains, misters… Everyone organizes themselves with the many places set up to cool off. And then, in the opinion of the participants, these very hot conditions are also ideal conditions for a festival: it’s always better than a festival flooded under downpours, like at We Love Green in Paris, there a few days.
The festival-goers are therefore smiling, even more than usual at this hour. Because they have two years, two years of frustration, without a festival, to evacuate. On Friday night: Deftones or Dropkick Murphys. Hellfest regulars who hadn’t performed in France for almost three years now. The Hellfest, despite the heat, should therefore hold its reputation as one of the most joyful festivals in France.
