at Croisic and Mesquer, radars to measure sea level

Sea level surveillance radars were installed on Monday in the ports of Croisic and Mesquer in Loire-Atlantique. The operation was carried out at the initiative of the Cap Atlantique conurbation (La Baule-Guérande peninsula) as part of its policy to combat coastal risks and in particular marine flooding.

These two radars will be put into service at the end of the year, they will accurately and permanently measure the movements of the sea and will transmit the data instantaneously to the services of the agglomeration. This tool will allowanticipate submersion phenomena explains Cap Atlantique in a press release. The alert will be triggered when the sea level approaches the reference value set during the storm Xynthia in 2010.

The installation of these two radars cost 20,000 euros.
