at 7 years old, Pierre Palmade entered the life of Baptiste Lecaplain

Since February 2023, Pierre Palmade has been relegated to pariah status. After Muriel Robin, who turned her back on him, it was the Grévin museum which stored the wax statue, alongside Vladimir Putin, that visitors to the Parisian monument no longer want to see. While the comedian, who caused a terrible accident while under the influence of drugs, awaits his trial, a colleague spoke of his second show as an entry point into the profession.

This is the first one-man show I watched

His name is Baptiste Lecaplain, and if he also cites Michel Courtemanche, Franck Dubosc, Dave Chappelle and Jim Jefferies as his favorites in the world of laughter, it was Pierre Palmade who first captivated him, at the age of 7 , he said. Regarding his show, “My mother really likes what I do.”released in 1989, he remembers: “This is the first one-man show I watched. Pierre Palmade does a sketch where he is on the phone with his girlfriend, there is his mother listening to the conversation and he speaks to both of them at the same time. I see that and I say to myself: ‘It’s incredible, the guy is talking to characters who don’t exist.'”

And to add that this program was a real refuge, when he was really bored. Indeed, Baptiste Lecaplain assures: “I had seen it on VHS at my grandmother’s house, where we had family meals every Sunday. It lasted for hours, so with the other kids, we wandered off into the living room to watch cartoons. One day, I was all alone and I put on Pierre Palmade’s VHS”.

“They would sit with us and laugh.”

The result was immediate: Pierre Palmade managed to bring young and old together around the station. The 7-year-old young comedian-in-the-making remembers: “What was great was that during these meals, when the adults came to see what was going on, if we watched Lady and the Tramp, they left. But if they were comedians, they would sit with us and laugh.”. It was under these circumstances that the little boy heard his grandmother’s laughter for the first time. A madeleine. And a nice tribute to Pierre Palmade, who hasn’t had one for a year…
