The young Habs beat her personal best to reach her first European podium.

That’s what we call a thunderous debut. Rose Loga, 21, won the bronze medal in the hammer throwing competition, for her first participation in the European Championships, Monday June 10 in Rome. With a throw of 72.68 m, she beat her personal best which dated last January (72.01 m). She was beaten by the Italian Sarah Fantini (74.18 m), in gold, and the Polish Anita Wlodarczyk (72.92 m), in silver.

The Parisian by birth, who grew up in Eure-et-Loire, vice-world and European champion among juniors in 2021, therefore confirms her potential. In the lead after her fourth throw, she competed with the best until the end. But this charm is not however synonymous with participation in the Olympic Games, the minimums being set at 74 m.

Nothing to taint his joy though: “Honestly, I’m super happy, but it’s true that I didn’t really expect it. I wanted to beat my record, but with the start of the competition that I had, it was a bit complicated, I was stressed. Seeing myself in the eight liberated me a little, I was able to let go and I’m very happy.”
