Head to the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower in Paris: the panoramic observatory managed by the company Magnicity, whose CEO is Alexia Vettier. Her office, “the most beautiful in Paris”, is located at a height of 200 meters. A height of irony for someone who admits “to be dizzy”.
At the head of the company since 2018, the manager has no shortage of projects. In addition to Paris, the company – which operates tourist sites in high altitudes – will soon have five structures: Berlin, Rotterdam, Chicago, another site in the Netherlands at the end of the year and in Warsaw next year. The ambition is to export the brand to Asia.
Magnicity is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Created in 1974, this French family business was set up thanks to one of its founders, who was very involved in this project since he collaborated with real estate developers to find financing. “He had the good idea to buy the 56th floor” to offer this spectacular view to visitors who would like to climb to the top of the Montparnasse Tower.
And today there are many of them: 700,000 per year (with around 60% foreign customers), a figure which is nevertheless down compared to previous years.
Above the CEO’s office is a large panoramic terrace, from which you can observe the Parisian monuments. The Montparnasse Tower is due for a major makeover. A rehabilitation project that has fallen behind schedule. One of Magnicity’s goals: to modernize the place to attract visitors.
