Suffering from a very aggressive brain tumor at the age of 6, Lucas has now recovered from his cancer at 12 years old. A miraculous cure which delights his parents and gives hope to medicine.

On his trampoline, 12-year-old Lucas looks like a teenager like any other. However, he has come a long way. He is today the first child to have recovered from a cancer deemed incurable. “It’s a little miracle for us“, his parents testify. The doctors themselves had little hope. In 2017, Lucas was 6 years old. During the summer holidays, he felt worse and worse. “My parents noticed it because I wasn’t walking straight. I passed out and my nose was bleeding“, explains the young boy. The diagnosis is made: it is a particularly aggressive brain tumor.

A major hope for the future

The Belgian family leaves for Lucas to be treated in France, in search of a miracle treatment. “When we arrived in Paris, we were confronted with the fact that there wasn’t much hope, and that even the treatment was just experimental.“, says Cédric, the boy’s father. The family is even considering leaving to test other protocols in the United States or Mexico, but the treatment takes effect in just a few months. This is a major hope for the doctor who looked after him.
