At almost 109 years old, pianist Colette Maze has been inducted into the brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin. For more than a century, the musician has been playing the piano daily. His life’s work is now rewarded.
At the Château du Clos Vougeot (Côte-d’Or), Colette Maze continues from Piazzolla to Schumann. At almost 109 years old, she does four hours of piano a day and an elixir of youth revealed by her son, Fabrice Maze. “She has a trilogy that she loves: wine, dark chocolate and cheese”, he assures. The pianist has been playing since the age of three. Nearly a century later, Colette Maze still interprets with the same emotion a romance by Debussy, her favorite.
“It’s Food”
“It’s food, like you need coffee or lunch. I definitely need a seal between the music, the fingers and the body”, explains the music lover. In front of an amazed public, she was inducted into the brotherhood of the Knights of Tastevin. For the Parisian pianist, red wine lover, as a nod to her Burgundian ancestors.
