Quebec reported 16 deaths related to COVID-19 on Friday. In total, the province has recorded 14,056 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

On Friday, there was a drop of 51 hospitalizations in the health network, which translates into 88 new hospital admissions and 139 discharges. Across Quebec, 1,313 patients therefore remain hospitalized in connection with the virus, 80 of whom are still in intensive care, an increase of 4 compared to the previous day (8 entries and 4 exits).

The number of active outbreaks fell sharply on Friday with 512, down 81 from the previous day.

Authorities are reporting 1,354 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The provincial positivity rate remains stable at 9.2%. However, it should be remembered that the limits imposed on screening have made the data related to infections much less representative for several weeks now. On Thursday, Public Health carried out 15,978 screening tests, a relatively stable figure compared to the average.

On the same day, 351 rapid tests were declared, including 265 positive. So far, all over 101,000 rapid tests have been “self-reported” on the government’s platform, the vast majority of which, more than 78,784 of them, had a positive diagnosis of COVID-19.

On the vaccination side, the Quebec campaign continues to slow down rapidly. In the past 24 hours, barely 8,540 doses of vaccine have been administered, to which are added 199 vaccines given before March 3 which had not yet been counted.
