(Montreal) Hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 have started to rise again in the last hours, according to the government’s report, which also reports nine new deaths.
Authorities reported Thursday an increase of 47 hospitalizations since the day before, for a total of 1,325. Of these patients, 446 are being treated for COVID-19.
Bounce also to intensive care, where 31 people in all were treated, including 18 specifically for the disease. This is an increase of five since the last report.
More than 1,900 healthcare professionals were absent from work due to COVID-19.
The death toll also continued to rise, with nine new deaths recorded on Thursday, two of which occurred in the last 24 hours. Two other deaths occurred two to seven days ago and five more than seven days ago.
Since the start of the pandemic, 18,114 Quebecers have lost their lives as a result of the disease.
The number of new cases has remained relatively stable, at 559. But note that these figures are underestimated since access to screening centers is limited. We must add at least 38 cases detected by rapid tests.
