Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | Five deaths, 113 more hospitalizations

(Montreal) Quebec reports five deaths attributed to COVID-19 on Tuesday in addition to a sharp increase in hospitalizations.

There are currently 1226 hospitalizations, an increase of 113 compared to the previous day. Thirty-six people are in intensive care, an increase of six.

A total of 5,622 healthcare workers are currently absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll reaches 15,572.

The Ministry of Health reports 1,272 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, for a total of 1,087,028 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 230,196 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 189,968 positives. For the day on Monday, 638 tests were declared, including 568 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 7795 analyzes were carried out on Monday and that the positivity rate is 11.6%.

As for vaccination, 3119 doses were administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 55% received a third dose and 15% obtained a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 44% sought a fourth dose.
