Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 64 more hospitalizations, 19 deaths

(Montreal) Quebec reports Wednesday 19 new deaths linked to COVID-19, in addition to an increase in hospitalizations.

There are currently 2,102 hospitalizations, including 714 due to COVID-19, an increase of 64 from Tuesday. Fifty-five people are in intensive care, three less than the day before. Thirty-two of these patients are in intensive care with COVID-19.

A total of 4,343 health care workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll stands at 16,088.

The Ministry of Health reports 1,211 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,159,087 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 273,877 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 229,070 positives. For the day on Tuesday, 257 tests were declared, including 217 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 13,647 samples were taken on Tuesday.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 56% received a third dose and 18% obtained a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 52% sought their fourth dose.
