Deaths and hospitalizations continue their upward trend in Quebec, with the province reporting 20 new deaths and 53 additional hospitalizations on Thursday.

The 20 new deaths reported on Thursday bring the daily average calculated over seven days to 15. The trend is up 35% over one week.
Quebec is also reporting an increase of 53 hospitalizations on Thursday. The 2,110 people currently hospitalized represent an increase of 13% over one week. In intensive care, the 59 patients represent an increase of 31% over one week.
The number of people in hospital is likely to continue to rise in the coming days, with the number of admissions outpacing discharges. On average, there are 36 more patients every day.
The number of workers absent due to the pandemic has increased. They were 7349 Thursday to have to isolate themselves.
The 2,149 new cases reported on Thursday bring the daily average to 1,927. The trend is thus up 14% over one week. These numbers likely reflect only a portion of total infections, due to limited access to PCR testing. Moreover, the proportion of PCR screening tests proving positive for COVID remains very high, at 14.9%.
In addition to the cases detected by PCR tests, 1,275 people have also reported in recent days having obtained a positive result from a rapid test. Self-reported cases, which are not included in daily reported cases, are stable over a week.
The vaccination campaign seems to have again reached a plateau. Quebec administers an average of 10,800 doses per day, a stable number for a week. These are mainly people aged 55 and over coming to pick up their 4e dose.
To date, 83.6% of Quebecers have received two doses, but only 52.8% three and 16% four.
