Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 44 deaths and further increase in hospitalizations

The number of deaths tripled in the space of a week in Quebec, with a total of 44 people who succumbed to COVID-19 on Saturday. Quebec reports an increase of 163 hospitalizations.

The 44 new deaths bring the daily average to 26, up 172%.

There are currently 2,296 hospital patients, 163 more than the day before, a 98% increase over one week. In intensive care, 16 more patients are reported than Friday, for a total of 245 people hospitalized. This represents a 60% increase over one week.

With a total of 15,928 new cases, the number of infections remains stable. This brings the daily average to 15,442. As screening is now limited, this data is no longer representative of the evolution of the pandemic.

Regarding vaccination, 21.4% of Quebecers received three doses, while 78% of the population received two injections. It is reported that 85.1% of Quebecers have received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
