The 29 new deaths reported on Tuesday bring the daily average calculated over seven days to 12. The trend is down 9% over one week.

Quebec also reported a drop of 40 hospitalizations on Tuesday. The 1,959 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 represent a stable one-week trend. In intensive care, the 46 patients represent a drop of 8% over one week.

The number of people hospitalized should remain stable over the next few days, with the number of discharges approaching admissions. On average, there are four fewer patients every day.

The number of workers absent due to the pandemic is lower than last week. They were 3,877 on Tuesday to have to isolate themselves, or 6% less than seven days ago.

The 951 new cases reported on Tuesday bring the daily average to 925. The trend is thus down 11% over one week. These numbers likely reflect only a portion of total infections, due to limited access to PCR testing. Moreover, the proportion of PCR screening tests proving positive for COVID-19 remains high, at 9.2%.

In addition to the cases detected by PCR tests, 375 people have also reported in recent days having tested positive on a rapid test.
