The spread of COVID-19 and the pressure exerted by the pandemic on the Quebec health network continue to decrease. The province reported Friday a drop of 27 hospitalizations, but 14 additional deaths.

The 14 new deaths reported on Friday bring the daily average calculated over seven days to 11. The trend is thus down 18% over one week.
Quebec also reports a drop of 27 hospitalizations on Friday. The 2,109 people currently hospitalized represent a stable trend over one week. In intensive care, the 57 patients represent a drop of 16% over one week.
The number of people in hospital is expected to continue to decline over the next few days, with discharges outpacing admissions. On average, there are 10 fewer patients every day.
Another sign that the pressure is easing on the health network, the number of workers absent due to the pandemic has continued to decline. They were 4910 Friday to have to isolate themselves, down 22% over one week.
The 1013 new cases reported on Friday bring the daily average to 1210. The trend is thus down 22% over one week. These numbers likely reflect only a portion of total infections due to limited access to PCR testing. Moreover, the proportion of PCR screening tests proving positive for COVID-19 remains high, at 10.0%.
In addition to the cases detected by PCR tests, 622 people have also reported in recent days having tested positive on a rapid test. Self-reported cases, which are not included in daily reported cases, are down 27% over the past week.
