The 23 new deaths reported on Tuesday bring the daily average calculated over seven days to 11. The trend is up 78% over one week.

Quebec also reported an increase of 54 hospitalizations on Tuesday. The 1,663 people currently hospitalized represent an increase of 15% over one week. In intensive care, the 38 patients represent a drop of 3% over one week.

The number of people in hospital is likely to continue to rise in the coming days, with the number of admissions outpacing discharges. On average, there are 32 more patients every day.

The number of workers absent due to the pandemic has increased by 115 since Monday. They were 6659 Tuesday to have to isolate themselves because of the COVID.

The 2,076 new cases reported on Tuesday bring the daily average to 1,545. The trend is thus up 18% over one week. These figures likely reflect only a portion of total infections, due to limited access to PCR screening tests. Moreover, the proportion of PCR screening tests proving positive for COVID remains very high, at 16.3%.

In addition to the cases detected by PCR tests, 1,162 people have also reported in recent days having obtained a positive result from a rapid test. Self-reported cases, which are not included in daily reported cases, are stable over a week.

The vaccination campaign continues to gain in intensity. Quebec administers an average of 9,000 doses per day. It is mainly 4e doses administered to persons 60 years of age and older.

To date, 83.6% of Quebecers have received two doses, but only 52.6% three and 15% four.
