Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 1,256 new cases, one death

Quebec reported 1,256 new cases of COVID-19 and one death on Sunday. Hospitalizations are down by six.

The number of hospitalizations has fallen to a total of 219 people now, down 6 from the previous day. There are now 59 people in intensive care, a decrease of 1.

The number of tests performed on December 4 stood at 33,507. The positivity rate is 4.1%, still below the 5% threshold recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Resumption of vaccination

The Ministry of Health reports that 21,000 additional injections were given in 5 to 11 year olds and 2,785 third doses were given in people 70 years and older.

To date, just over 166,000 young people aged 5 to 11 have had their first dose, or 25% of this age group.

So far, 86% of the population have received their first dose, 81% their second and 4% their third.
