Quebec is reporting 9,206 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday as well as four additional deaths. The number of people hospitalized has fallen by 31.
The new cases identified on Saturday bring the average of daily cases calculated over seven days to 6,922. The trend is therefore up by 175%.
Instead, the four additional deaths bring the daily average to four. The trend remains stable.
A total of 458 people are hospitalized as a result of COVID-19, 31 less than the day before. Of these, 89 are in intensive care.
On Christmas Day in 2020, a drop in hospitalizations was also reported, but the following days were marked by a sharp increase. The number of people hospitalized had increased from 1053 to 928. The next day, more than 150 people had to be admitted to a health establishment. The same phenomenon could be seen on New Year’s Day in 2020.
Quebec crossed the milestone of one million third doses administered on Saturday. More than half of people 80 and over have received three doses. A total of 11.8% of the population received a third dose of the vaccine.
In total, 84.7% of Quebecers have received a dose of the vaccine. Rather, 78.5% of the province’s population received two injections.
