Assessment of COVID-19 | 3,631 new cases, significant increase in hospitalizations

Quebec is reporting 3,631 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and two more deaths. Public Health also identifies a significant increase of 35 hospitalizations.

The new cases reported on Saturday bring the seven-day average of daily new cases to 2,521.

More cases have been reported in people vaccinated. Among the new infections, 1,189 were identified in people who had not been vaccinated, or who had received their first dose for less than 14 days. In double vaccines, 2,320 cases of COVID-19 have been detected, and 122 in people who received their first dose for more than 14 days.

Unvaccinated people are 2.2 times more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than those who have received two doses of the vaccine, and 15.1 times more likely to be hospitalized.

As of Saturday, 1,322 outbreaks are active in the province.

The pressure is growing on the health system, as 35 more patients are hospitalized due to the consequences of COVID-19. A total of 347 people are hospitalized, of which 74 are in intensive care.

As of Friday, 83.8% of Quebecers had received at least one dose and 78.3% were adequately vaccinated. By that date, 48.3% of young people aged 5 to 11 had received their first dose.
