Quebec is reporting 12,833 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, as well as 15 additional deaths. Hospitalizations are on the rise, as 88 more have been recorded.
The cases on Tuesday bring the seven-day average of daily cases to 9,133, representing a 146% increase over one week.
The 15 additional deaths bring the daily average to six, continuing an upward trend from last week.
A total of 702 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, representing a 62% increase over one week. Of those, 115 are in intensive care, six more than the day before. The number of intensive care patients is up 31%.
It should be noted that the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, will provide an update on the progression of the virus in the province at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
A second outbreak at Lakeshore hospital
Lakeshore General Hospital is battling a second COVID-19 outbreak in four days. Nearly five users of the health facility were declared positive for the virus Monday evening, confirmed the spokesperson for the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, Annie Charbonneau.
On December 24, in another unit, the hospital announced that nearly five employees had tested positive for COVID-19.
