Greens supporters will be deprived of the first match of the season in Ligue 2 : they are prohibited from traveling to Dijon. The prefecture of Côte-d’Or refuses them access to the Gaston-Gérard stadium on July 30, considering that it “there is a proven risk of public order disturbances” on the occasion of the DFCO – ASSE meeting.
Risks of disturbing public order
In his decree, the prefect of Côte d’Or explains that the visitor parking at the Dijon stadium will be insufficient to accommodate the Saint-Etienne supporters – of which he recalls the recent excesses of the supporters (smoke bombs, mortars, invasion of the field). He also notes that, contrary to custom, ASSE has not “no information on the travel arrangements envisaged by the supporters” since their “Relations with club leaders are particularly deteriorated”.
The ban on this trip is more bad news for Saint-Etienne supporters. They will also be unable to attend the Greens’ first four home matches. These meetings will take place behind closed doors, by decision of the LFP, after the incidents against Auxerre, on May 29, during the relegation of ASSE to Ligue 2.
