Yvan Colonna, the Corsican independence activist sentenced to life for the assassination of the prefect Erignac, was attacked on Wednesday March 2 by another prisoner in Arles prison (Bouches-du-Rhône), where the journalist from 19 /20 Theo Souman. His vital prognosis remains engaged.

“The attack on Yvan Colonna took place around 10 a.m., this Wednesday, March 2, at the prison of Arles (Bouches-du-Rhône)”informs journalist Théo Souman. “The Corsican detainee was alone in a sports hall when another detainee suddenly hit him, for no apparent reason, with his bare hands, strangled and suffocated”, he adds. The man had to be resuscitated on the spot then transported to the hospital in absolute emergency, and is now in Marseille, in a coma. His vital prognosis remains engaged.

“His alleged attacker is a 36-year-old man, imprisoned in Arles prison for acts of terrorism linked to radical Islam”, says the journalist. As a reminder, Yvan Colonna was sentenced to life for the assassination of the prefect Erignac, in 1998. “He had been imprisoned in Arles since 2012 and regularly asked to be transferred to Corsica to be closer to his family”explains Theo Souman.
