assaulted, a doctor closes his office

Saïd Ouichou has made his decision: to close his office in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), in the 15th arrondissement, where he has been practicing for fifteen years. His departure follows a violent attack two days ago. “He bangs on the door, asking me: give me my prescription now. I explained to him that we had to wait, that there were people. I don’t know why, he started shouting, her boyfriend who was outside comes in, he wanted to hit me. The patients intervened, I ended up stopping the consultation and closing my practice following this incident”explains the doctor.

This is not the first time, some messages even set the tone. In consultation, a regular at the office understands the doctor’s departure. “Nobody respects anybody anymore. They managed to attack the doctor, where are we going?”, asks the patient. Leaving without abandoning his patients was a dilemma for Saïd Ouichou. He will stay in the 15th arrondissement, but join a collective structure in another district. The firm is expected to close by the end of October.
