Assault in Montreal | Three injured in an apartment building, around a hundred evacuated

(Montreal) Three people were injured, including one who was stabbed in the upper body, during a fight that occurred Sunday morning in an apartment building in Montreal.

In addition, around a hundred people were evacuated from the building due to a fire alarm, which turned out to be unfounded. They were unable to return to their home due to several crime scenes which were protected by the police inside the building.

A call to 911 around 4 a.m. Sunday morning led emergency services to this location located on rue Crépeau, near rue Quintin, in the borough of Saint-Laurent.

The language barrier poses a major challenge to investigators as they have several people to meet and try to clarify what happened, explained agent Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the Police Department. City of Montreal (SPVM).

“We are currently reporting three victims who are out of danger,” she said.

The victims taken to hospital are three men aged 19, 26 and 40.

A man, aged 28, was arrested at the scene and police may have other suspects in sight.

The SPVM has a command post on site and a large perimeter has been established. The area should be avoided.

The SPVM investigation continues.
