Assassination of a Sikh leader | The “Five Eyes” communicated information with Canada

Five Eyes intelligence services reportedly informed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of possible Indian involvement in the assassination of a Sikh community leader in British Columbia, according to CTV News.

In an exclusive interview with CTV News, to be broadcast on Sunday, US Ambassador to Ottawa David Cohen confirmed that the Canadian prime minister had received information from the Five Eyes to support the allegations against India.

Five Eyes is the alliance of intelligence services from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

Remember that last Monday, Trudeau dropped a bombshell by accusing India of having a “possible link” with the assassination on Canadian soil of a Sikh leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an accusation described as “absurd” by the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since then, relations have only worsened between the two countries.

“I can say that there was information sharing,” confirmed Mr. Cohen in an interview. There has been a lot of communication between Canada and the United States on this subject, and this is as far as I am willing to go on the subject,” he said.

“There was a sharing of information within the Five Eyes, which supported Canada in the statement that the Prime Minister made,” added Mr. Cohen on CTV News.

Already, on Thursday, the national network CBC had indicated that not only had Canada conducted an investigation on the ground, but that it was also relying on information transmitted by the Five Eyes.

According to the CBC, part of the electronic interceptions affected Indian diplomats in Canada.
