ASNL and Thaon spin in 16th through penalties

Small feat at the Aube stadium

Let’s start with the ASNL, which did not start as favorite against Troyes (Ligue 1). But the nancéiens started the game well, even if it was the aubois who had the 1st real occasions on errors in Lorraine.

The danger first came on a free kick, then on a nice pass in the area to find the attacker Suk, alone in front of the Nancy goal, but the keeper Baptiste Valette made the necessary parades. And then the ASNL began to pose problems for the Trojans, in particular in the 20th or on a breakthrough by Triboulet, Jung stung his ball above the goalkeeper of ESTAC, who managed to slow the ball, then released by his defense.

And then Mr Delajod, the match referee, began distributing boxes, in a committed but correct match. 1st at fault, the young Nancy midfielder Maxime Nonnenmacher, who put too much intensity in his intervention and who repeats a few moments later, 32 minutes of play, the ASNL is found at 10.

In the 42nd, on a corner, a clash occurs between the Nancy defender Akichi and the Trojan striker Suk, the referee first indicates that there is nothing, but changes his mind in a few seconds and grants a penalty to the aubois, transformed by Domingues.

Led 1-0 at the break, Benoit Pedretti asks his men not to bow their heads and believe it. The 2nd half will smile on them, first of all because Troyes, even in superiority cannot break through the Nancy bloc and then on a free kick, Jung, well placed, deflects the ball into the Trojan goal (1-1, 63rd).

Solidarity, eye-catching, Nancy are holding on and Mr Delajod strikes again, on a late tackle, he leaves a direct red for defender Saliou Ciss (77th). And the people of Nancy do not give up, united, united! They held up despite a few hot balls and even finished at 8 when Karamoko, already warned, took a 2nd yellow in added time. ASNL finds itself on penalties.

During this session, the nancéiens do not tremble to shoot and never miss a beat. Korean Suk couldn’t get over it when Baptiste Valette deflected his penalty as if he already knew where the Trojan was going to shoot: “We worked well with Genna (Bracigliano, the goalkeeper coach)”. The penultimate Trojan shooter gets lost completely and sends a missile above, a failure which sends him the ASNL in the 16th final.

Thaon has come a long way

In Thaon, the match was just as surprising in its course. Facing Beauvais, N2 club, the Vosges took the initiative by Dufour who found the fault in the 14th minute. But Beauvais returned 4 minutes later on a penalty. Thaon resumed his luck just before the break (44th) by Wilfried Rother who allowed the Thaonnais to return to the locker room in the lead and in numerical superiority after a red card received by Beauvais.

The 2nd half seemed to have started well but Beauvais, even at 10, played his luck thoroughly and equalized in the 63rd, again on penalty (2-2) … And worse, 10 minutes before the end Beauvais takes the advantage (2-3, 80th). Driven by their audience and not resigned to stopping the adventure, Thaon whipped to equalize, again by Rother, in added time (90 + 4).

Pushed to a penalty shootout, Beauvais has cracked, Thaon wins and qualifies for the round of 16, Vosges supporters were treated to their dose of suspense and adrenaline!
