ASM in motion: Valentin Duchier, referent of the A3P: preventive postural physical activity.

Valentin Duchier gives us some tips for being active at any time of the day.

Interview by Aïcha from Onde Carriere

Our enemy right now is really a sedentary lifestyle and time spent sitting. And we know that if we fight against a sedentary lifestyle, we will directly act on cardiovascular diseases, etc.

The role of A3P

Build with companies, a tailor-made solution to meet the various issues, particularly related to musculoskeletal problems (TMS) that will impact most people and represent 88% of occupational diseases.

What really fascinates us is to be able to act concretely on people’s daily lives and to have a positive impact on their various discomforts and pains that they may feel.

The advice is personalized and the results are there. People resume a physical activity or a hobby that they could not do before.

We are not talking about sport, but about physical activity and we must understand that we can be sporty, but sedentary.

If we have spent the whole day sitting, it is not because we are going to do 20 or 30 minutes of sport in the evening that this will necessarily compensate. We must break the sedentary lifestyle, break the sitting position with active breaksby fairly gentle gestures, joint awakenings. It is better to split it up, to have lots of small active breaks during the day rather than 20, 30 minutes of very intense sport at the end of the day.

The results

The results are quite incredible on the decreases in pain. On an average of six out of ten, we will go to three out of ten. When back pain goes from six out of ten to three out of ten, it’s a victory for the person.

We also have a big reduction in work accidents. The device is also made to wake people up in the literal sense of the word and avoid injury during the first twenty minutes of work due to lack of attention. For this, Valentin Duchier’s team comes to warm up people when they start work, at 5 or 6 am in the factories or around 9 am in the offices.

It’s really there, at 5 o’clock in the morning, that people are still a little asleep, not paying attention to their first gestures.

The 110 years of ASM as seen by Valentin Duchier

110 years means a lot of things. In fact, we realize that sport and ASM when it was still AS Michelin, it was already present. And in fact, _what we do is to put physical activity on the working time of employees, it has always more or less existed at the ASM_. We just tried to formalize and frame these interventions a bit. Corn 100 years ago, we can find photos of employees doing sports during their working hours in work clothes. In fact, we just formalized and framed his interventions a little, but it has always existed.
