The ASM Clermont Auvergne rugby club was dismissed Monday, June 26 at the industrial tribunal of Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) of its request for suspension of the employment contract of player Mohamed Haouas, sentenced for violence marriage last May, reports France Bleu Pays d’Auvergne.

In its decision the board ruled that the club’s request is “unfounded“. The club had asked the labor council of Clermont-Ferrand on Wednesday to suspend the player’s employment contract, considering that he had not respected the “criteria of ethics and deontology of French rugby“. The 29-year-old international pillar was to join ASM on July 1 for three seasons.

During a first hearing on Wednesday June 21, the club’s lawyer, Me Patrick Puso, explained that the ASM considers that it has been “deceived” by the player and his current club Montpellier on his “behavior“, in particular his alcohol problems which earned him several visits to the police station, or money. “This is not the profile we hired“, he added.

Haouas dismissed his claim for non-pecuniary damage

On the other hand, Mohamed Haouas, who claimed 390,000 euros, the equivalent of one year’s salary, as a provision before the judgment on the merits, was dismissed, as was his claim for 50,000 euros for moral damage and careers “because of the damage to the image of the man, the employee and the player“.
