The antigenic tests are taken by storm by the French: nearly six million carried out in the last days. It is also possible to purchase self-tests, which are also increasingly popular.

A few days before Christmas and a reunion with the family, sales of self-tests are exploding in pharmacies. “We sell a box per minute, practically”, assures Véronique Rigaud, pharmacist. In another pharmacy, more than 250 boxes were sold in 48 hours. The gesture must be precise: it is a nasal swab, shallow. The cotton swab is then contacted with the reagent. The result is negative if it displays one bar, positive if it displays two.

“Replenishing it is quite difficult in self-test, as of this morning we were out of stock. It is very complicated for many pharmacies to have it, and prices have unfortunately also increased quite a bit”, says doctor Damien Bon, pharmacist. Production is now running at full speed.
