Emmanuel Macron announced, Monday October 23, a plan to promote professional integration through sport, including the recruitment of 1,000 socio-sporting educators in clubs and the establishment of a status, in order to remove them from the precariousness. “You are a French team of fraternity!”he said at the Elysée, in front of an audience of socio-sports educators, young people who had benefited from their support and business leaders.

“From 2024, we will finance 1,000 clubs in 500 cities so that they recruit and train 1,000 social and sports educators, with aid of 20,000 euros per club and a duration of three years to give visibility” , declared the head of state. “Starting next year, we will open these 1,000 new positions. These educators will have the dual skills of supervising sports activities and integration through sport,” he clarified.

Building a status for sports educators

More than 50 million euros in new credits will be put on the table “by 2026”. At this stage, 500 coaches have been trained to support young people in building their individual project. More than 20,000 people benefited from this type of integration action in 2022. By 2027, 100,000 should be affected each year, said Emmanuel Macron.

The Head of State also pointed out the precariousness of many volunteer sports instructors, compensated with “ends of string” like the “match bonuses”, “without social security”. A “specific work mission” will be responsible for making proposals from the “beginning of 2024” in order to build a “status for all sports educators and clubs” who work in this area, he continued.
