“More than thorough pat-downs”. Around twenty female AS Saint-Etienne supporters complained of intrusive searches during their trip to the Stade Louis-II in Monaco on Saturday 17 August, as part of the first day of the French Ligue 1 championship. The club, which relayed the complaints, contacted the Monegasque authorities.
“We “We have collected around twenty concordant testimonies”Thomas Granger, the club’s communications director, told AFP on Thursday, adding that some of them could be used by the courts.
In a message published the day after the match on the social network X, an Internet user described in particular: “more than thorough palpation of private parts, hands in panties and bras for some women…” during access controls at the Stade Louis-II, where the match was taking place. According to ASSE, a majority of testimonies come from women who mention similar gestures and incriminate at least one policewoman.
Thomas Granger indicated that the club, for the moment, AS Saint-Etienne “has not constituted itself as a civil party, but it will do so if women file a complaint or if proceedings are initiated.” Several sources told AFP that no complaints had been filed at this stage.
