Artistic Swimming World Cup | Canada wins three medals on final day of competition

(Markham) Quebecer Audrey Lamothe helped Canada win three medals during the final day of competition at the Artistic Swimming World Cup on Sunday.


Lamothe teamed up with Quebecer Jacqueline Simoneau to win the silver medal in the women’s freestyle duo event.

She also helped Canada get their hands on two team medals, a silver in the free program and a bronze in the acrobatic program.

Simoneau, who was also part of the free program team, won six medals, including a gold during the technical solo program on Friday.

Lamothe and Simoneau collected 246,5501 points in freestyle, 7.2229 points less than the Japanese Moe Higa and Tomoka Sato. Ukrainians Maryna Aleksiiva and Vladyslava Aleksiiva took third place (242,1772 points).

Canada amassed 326,2981 points in the team event, finishing behind the United States (341,6208) and ahead of the Kazakhs (247,6605).

Ukraine triumphed in the team acrobatic event with 244.4834 points. China took second place (242,6500) and Canada completed the podium (236,3034).

Canada concluded the World Cup with a game-high seven medals, one gold, five silver and one bronze. China, Kazakhstan and Spain finished first in gold medals with two.

The Canadian artistic swimming team qualified for the Paris Olympic Games this summer.
