Double medalist the day before, Jacqueline Simoneau continued her medal haul at the Artistic Swimming World Cup in Markham, Ontario, by climbing onto the podium three times on Saturday.
After a silver medal at the start of the day in the technical duo with Audrey Lamothe, Simoneau returned to the second step of the podium in the afternoon after her performance in the free solo.
Never two without three ! The Quebecer and her teammates Sydney Carroll, Scarlett Finn, Audrey Lamothe, Jonnie Newman, Kenzie Priddell, Claire Scheffel and Florence Tremblay also managed to capture the silver medal in the team free event.
“I’m super happy with all these medals! These are excellent results and what’s more, I don’t think we’re at the top of our game. The goal is to be in Paris, at the Olympic Games. It’s great to be able to experience success here, but above all it’s encouraging for the future,” said Simoneau in an interview with Sportcom.
In the technical duo, Simoneau and Lamothe obtained a final score of 248.3350 points, only 0.0217 points behind the Austrians Anna-Maria and Eirini-Mariana Alexandri.
Audrey and I worked very hard, even if we didn’t have much time in the last few weeks to implement everything. We have improved a lot recently and between now and the Olympic Games, we will take more time in training to continue our progress.

The Japanese Moe Higa and Tomoka Sato (246.3600 points) finished on the third step of the podium.
A few hours later, Simoneau was back on the podium after finishing second in the free solo with 230,5750 points. She was only beaten by the Chinese Huiyan Xu, who accumulated 241,9354 points. Viktoria Reichova of Slovakia completed the podium with 198,2021 points.
“I practice solo routines even less than duo routines, so I’m very proud to get on the podium despite everything. It’s the icing on the sundae in a way. I am very happy with this result in front of the Canadian fans. »
Simoneau finished his day strong with the team free routine where Canada earned an impressive score of 326,2981 points. The high degree of difficulty as well as the numerous acrobatic pushes helped the Canadian troop achieve such a good result.
At the World Championships in Doha in February, the Canadians scored 263.3980 points in the team free skate, an improvement of more than 62 points in just four months.
Last to start in the final, the Americans managed to beat Canada to capture the gold medal with their total of 341.6208 points. Kazakhstan (247,6605 points) finished third.
This is the second silver medal in two days for the Canadian team in the team events.
The Markham World Cup will conclude on Sunday when Simoneau and Lamothe will be in action in the free duet. The Canadians will also participate in the team acrobatic event.
