Artificial intelligence must be at the service of human beings

As artificial intelligence (AI) evolves at breakneck speed, are we forgetting that it is the product of the human brain? Consequently, perhaps we would benefit from lending an attentive ear to the many experts who urge us to be cautious in view of the rapid evolution of AI in our everyday lives.

Certainly, AI contributes to the progress of society, particularly in scientific research. Furthermore, we already know that the development of AI will lead to job losses, that our personal data will be even more threatened and that weapons will become more autonomous. Beyond these issues, one thing worries me the most: how will humans be affected? As we rely more and more on AI, will we retain the ability to exercise judgment and make decisions? By exercising less and less judgment, are humans at risk of losing this skill?

Questions that leave me perplexed by the dangers of losing control over our daily lives without firing a shot. To this end, as a former teacher, I am concerned about the advances in AI in the world of education, particularly with regard to plagiarism which risks sneakily infiltrating students’ written productions.

Finally, given the unlimited number of fields of application in which AI is infiltrating, it is high time for politicians to get involved in the development of AI supervision and increased surveillance giants who have control over it. In clear terms, AI must serve humans and not the other way around.
