Artificial intelligence | Canadian Chamber of Commerce creates council that includes Amazon and Google

(Ottawa) The Canadian Chamber of Commerce announced the creation of a council responsible for defining public policies on artificial intelligence (AI).

According to the Chamber, the council will advocate for government policies to focus on the responsible development, deployment and ethical use of AI in business.

The 30-member Future of AI Council will be co-chaired by e-commerce giant Amazon and software company SAP Canada.

Other members are Meta Platforms, Google, BlackBerry, Cohere, Scotiabank and Microsoft.

According to the Chamber, the council will support government policies that make AI a positive economic driver, while recognizing the risks of the technology.

One of his first tasks will be to review Bill C-27, which the federal government plans to use to limit some of the dangers AI could cause.
