In Paris, at the Curie Institute, an AI makes it possible to identify the origin of a cancer and thus enable appropriate treatment as quickly as possible. The earlier the disease is detected, the greater the chances of recovery.

A few days ago, Alain Vadell received unexpected news: AI has just solved the riddle of his illness. For two years, this retiree has been fighting cancer but it is impossible for doctors to say in which organ the starting point of his tumor was located. The computer discovered what seemed impossible to find.

At the Curie Institute (Paris), Doctor Sarah Watson designed an algorithm with tens of thousands of data points. For his patients, it is a revolution. Patients who have benefited from targeted treatment live longer, they triple their chances of survival. 200 MRIs of very aggressive cancers were carried out in women. The machine indicates whether the usual treatment will be a failure or a success and can avoid unnecessary chemotherapy. The democratization of this technology in the territory is a real challenge, and a hope. Cancer affects 430,000 people each year.
