French tennis prodigies face to face. Arthur Fils and Luca van Assche, both 19 years old, meet on Friday December 1 (5:00 p.m.) in the semi-finals of the Masters Next Gen, the tournament which brings together the best players in the world under 22. 36th in the world, the first leaves with the label of favorite, but nothing is decided against his young compatriot, 70th in the ATP ranking, and who had won during their previous and only confrontation, in the final of Roland-Garros juniors two years ago.
During the group stage, qualifying for these semi-finals, Arthur Fils won his three matches, finishing in first place in the green group. For his part, Luca van Assche signed two victories and conceded a defeat (against the Serbian Hamad Medjedovic), thus taking second place in the red group. A Frenchman is therefore guaranteed to reach the final of the Masters Next Gen, a first since the creation of the tournament in 2017.
