Two of the most exciting teams in Ligue 1 face off at Bollaert-Delelis, Saturday January 8 (9 p.m.). With 33 and 34 goals scored, Lens and Rennes have prolific offensive ammunition, so there should be a show during this meeting. And this, even if Artésiens and Bretons are going through a difficult time. Lens has certainly overthrown Lille in the Coupe de France (2-2, 4-3 on the tabs), but the Sang et Or have not won in Ligue 1 for two months. Racing is now six units behind on the podium. And even if the Doucouré and Fofana executives remained in Pas-de-Calais, Ganago and Haïdara are in the CAN.
Things are hardly better in Rennes. Bruno Genesio’s players faltered in December (2 wins, 3 losses), despite a good 4th place in the standings. Worse, Stade Rennais conceded an embarrassing defeat to Nancy, last in Ligue 2, in the Cup. Even with four major players at CAN (Gomis, Aguerd, Traoré, Sulemana), the Bretons must bring back something from Bollaert to stay in contact with the podium.
