The Café Bar St-Laurent Frappé, located at the corner of the eponymous boulevard and the rue Napoléon suffered a fire attempt around 2:30 am and incendiary objects as well as traces of accelerant were found on the scene according to Julien Lévesque, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
Several fires were reportedly discovered inside by firefighters.
The damage was said to be considerable and the flames were brought under control by the firefighters.
At around 4 a.m., another fire was reported to the SPVM, on avenue du Parc, at the corner of boulevard Saint-Joseph. The damage would be more important than for the first and traces of accelerant were also found on the spot.
The two fires are of a suspicious nature according to the spokesperson and their investigation has been entrusted to the arson section of the SPVM, which should travel Tuesday morning to determine the causes of these fires.
