A mechanic in the Lachine borough in Montreal fears further reprisals after the arson attack that destroyed about fifteen of his cars on Friday.

“It could be today, tomorrow or next week. You have to protect yourself, ”said the modified car enthusiast, who did not want to reveal his identity for his safety.

This fire is part of a series of other blazes lit in recent weeks.

Before Friday morning, the most recent dated back to last Thursday, when ten cars were set on fire in an industrial sector of the Montreal borough of Saint-Laurent.

“When that fire happened, I had a feeling. I said to myself that the cars had to be brought in, but I didn’t. It was impossible that [les suspects] start again just as soon,” explains the man, still troubled by the events.

He claims to have thought about it all night, without finding an explanation.

For him, it is surely a random and organized act. All the mechanics in the sector are on the alert, he underlines.

“We have no enemies. And if it had been just us, I would have wondered, but there … It’s not just us that it affects, ”he adds.

Outside the targeted warehouse, about fifteen charred vehicles were still parked and showed their skeletons as the Log.

An employee of the garage took care of undoing the parts of the damaged cars.

“They will all be demolished,” he said.

“We haven’t assessed all the damage yet, but it’s sure we’re going to lose money,” says the mechanic, discouraged.

For the moment, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has no other information.

The investigation was entrusted to the team responsible for the arson since traces of accelerant were found at the scene of several fires, including this one.
