Arsène Lupine – The strange journey, Maurice Leblanc and Christel Espié

Inspired by Arsène Lupine’s first adventure – The arrest of Arsène Lupine -, written in 1905 by Maurice Leblanc, Christel Espié takes up most of the original story in The strange journey, an illustrated album with class and realism. Embedded on Provence, transatlantic bound for New York, passengers are stolen jewelry. The presence of the enigmatic burglar is soon announced, and the investigation is led by Miss Nelly Underdown and a certain Bernard d’Andrézy. In this faithful adaptation, Arsène thus leads us by the tip of the nose to this final where he is stopped on the deck of the liner. The author also signs the illustrations which not only accompany the words, but which plunge the reader into the heart of this universe both refined and intriguing. It offers elegant, deep paintings, carried by different perspectives that reveal all the intensity of the story.
