The list of clubs qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League has already taken shape. At the end of the fifth day of the group stage, played on Tuesday November 29 and Wednesday November 30, 12 teams have already qualified for the knockout matches.
The last two to have punched their ticket are Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven, winning respectively against Lens (6-0) and Sevilla (3-2). The Gunners, who abruptly ended the dream of the Sang et Or, will be featured in the knockout phase of C1 for the first time since the 2016-2017 season.
The day before, four teams had shown the way: Atlético de Madrid and Lazio Rome in Group E, Barcelona in Group H and Borussia Dortmund in Group F, that of Paris Saint-Germain. Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Inter Milan, Manchester City and Leipzig had already qualified two weeks earlier.
Ten teams for four places
There are therefore four folding seats available in the round of 16. The last tickets will be allocated during the 6th and final day of the group stage, on December 12 and 13. Some headliners will have to fight to continue their adventure in the most prestigious of European competitions, with PSG in the lead, traveling to Dortmund.
Manchester United are in a very delicate position in Group A, last behind Copenhagen and Galatasaray, but just one point behind these two competitors. The task promises to be difficult for the Red Devils who no longer have their destiny in their hands. They will have to win at home against Bayern Munich and hope for a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
Beaten by Real Madrid on Wednesday (4-2), Naples has not yet finished the job in Group B. The Italian club is three points ahead of Braga, which it hosts in two weeks. Any result other than a defeat by more than one goal will validate their qualification for the round of 16. Finally, in Group H, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk, tied on points, will challenge each other on the last day to join the knockout phase.
