Arrest of four suspects | Young man beaten and kidnapped over debt

Montreal police have arrested four young men suspected of having kidnapped and beaten a 19-year-old victim in early February. The attackers even threatened him with a gun, demanding payment of a debt.


It was the Northern Regional Investigation Section of the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) which arrested the quartet on Wednesday.

The 18 and 19 year old suspects allegedly kidnapped and kidnapped a person last month. A pistol and a high-capacity magazine were also seized during a search of the home of one of the suspects, the police said.

On the night of 1er Last February, the attackers appeared at the residence of the victim, a 19-year-old man. They then demanded payment of a debt. When the young man refused, they allegedly forced him into a car. They then allegedly beat the victim in the vehicle while threatening him with a handgun. The suspects finally let him leave the vehicle an hour later, after stealing a few hundred dollars and his vape.

“The steps taken by the team responsible quickly made it possible to identify the suspects. The latter were all arrested at their respective homes during a sweep carried out with the support of different SPVM units. The vehicle which the suspects allegedly used to commit the kidnapping was also seized during the operation for the purpose of expertise,” specifies the Montreal police.

The four alleged accomplices appeared Thursday at the Montreal courthouse and three of them face charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement and robbery. The fourth suspect in the group was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm. All remain detained until their next court date.
